Seguin HS Student Pronounced Dead After Shooting Himself On School Campus

SeguinToday.com (Seguin) — The Seguin Police Department has confirmed that the male Seguin High School student who shot himself Friday morning has died.

 

The SHS senior has been identified as Isaac Herrera, 17.  Sgt. James Springer confirmed that he was the son of a Seguin police officer. 

 

Springer says they initially were called out to the SHS campus at around 9:45 a.m. for an injured student.

“When they got here, they found a juvenile male with an injury. It appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot. It does also appear to be an isolated incident. It was in the outdoor area between buildings. No other students were harmed or threatened during this,” said Springer.

 

Springer says to his knowledge, there was at least one witness to the incident.

 

Students were placed on lock down throughout the day as a precautionary measure and to allow officials to investigate the scene.
