SMCISD Trustees Recognize United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties

“Literacy initiatives are top tier with projects such as Born Learning and Read to Succeed implemented at an early age.”

The San Marcos CISD School Board recognized the United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties on Monday, January 23, 2017, for their contributions to the district.

Superintendent Michael Cardona said, “Education is a cornerstone in the mission of the United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties, as it is essential to the success of the communities. The United Way partners with San Marcos CISD programs in PreK through high school. Literacy initiatives are top tier with projects such as Born Learning and Read to Succeed implemented at an early age.”

“These include Sunday Stories at the public library, Pre-K Reading Days, early literacy book drives, and the Born Learning Academies held at the Bonham Pre-K School for families and caregivers. The support continues through secondary schools with the Lunch. Learn. Live United programs currently in place at the San Marcos High School—teaching professional skills and demonstrating career opportunities at the high school level,” continued Cardona.

School Board President Clem Cantu presented an appreciation plaque to Director Michelle Harper.
