Spook the Halls at Kyle City Hall – 2017

What started in 2015 as a friendly decorating competition between departments ended up looking better than anyone expected.

Join us for the 3rd Annual “Spook the Halls!” at Kyle City Hall. Because There’s No Place Like Kyle!

We invite Kyle area kids and families to our 3rd Annual Spook the Halls at Kyle City Hall. Local children and their families are welcome to walk through Kyle City Hall and experience our very own Wizard of Oz themed rooms.

Spook the Halls 2017 takes place:

October 28 from 1-4 p.m. (concurrent with Center Street Trick or Treat)

October 30 from 3-5 p.m.

October 31 (Halloween) from noon-5 p.m.

Our Team Kyle employees are in the process of decorating for the city’s third annual Spook the Halls. What started in 2015 as a friendly decorating competition between departments ended up looking better than anyone expected. Department heads decided to open the doors to children and their families. It was so fun that city employees wanted to do it again in 2016. And now in 2017, we think it’s even better!

Bring your children to Kyle City Hall during the hours posted above. Walking the Spooky Halls is a free family activity – note the ‘Things to Consider’ below. This year we will offer a treat bag for each child at the end of the tour.

The decorations are a combination of items brought from employee’s homes, purchased by employees or made by employees. Much of this year’s sets are from recycled cardboard that many employees brought in from home.

We hope you will drop by Kyle City Hall and enjoy the spooky fun.

Things to consider before attending:

We want everyone who attends the Spook the Halls to have fun and be safe. Please read through these considerations prior to attending.

All children must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old and who will take responsibility for the children in their care.

The décor is age-appropriate for children as young as 3 or 4, but note, there is one section that is especially spooky.

In some areas there will be haunting sounds and music. It may be loud in some locations. One section will use black lights as part of the décor.

Some of the building will have reduced visibility because of the Halloween décor. May not be appropriate for children who are afraid of the dark.

Decorations include spiders, bats, witches, goblins, demons, skeletons and ghouls. There are also skulls, fake blood, spider webs, strobe lights, objects hanging from the ceiling, objects along the floor, fake body parts and various other Halloween-related items.

Attendees are expected to exhibit good judgment and behavior. In addition, many staff members will still be working during the walk-through so please respect privacy and keep noise to a reasonable level.

Our staff is unable to accommodate large groups that arrive together. Plan to walk in groups of no more than about 6-8.

City Hall is a two-story building but there is an elevator.

Only the restrooms on the first floor will be available to the public.

Note, parking near city hall is limited but there is frequently parking available around City Square Park, which is about a block west of Kyle City Hall.

We cannot guarantee that any food-based treats handed out will be allergen free, so use your own discretion in deciding whether to accept any candy for your child.

In the event employees use a fog machine as part of the décor, please be advised that visibility may be limited and the smoke can trigger allergies and asthma.
