I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramps at Posey Road (#199) and Centerpoint Road (#200) are closed. The southbound I-35 entrance ramp south of Posey Road is also closed. | Until further notice

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at Stassney Lane (#229) closed. The Stassney Lane exit ramp is also closed. | Sunday, Sep. 8 from 9 PM 12 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between William Cannon Drive and Slaughter Lane. | Sunday, Sep. 8 through Monday, Sep. 9 from 9 PM until 1 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane at William Cannon Drive. The William Cannon Drive entrance ramp is also closed. | Monday, Sep. 9 from 1 AM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane is closed at William Cannon Drive. The William Cannon Drive exit ramp (#228) is also closed. | Monday, Sep. 9 from 9 PM until 12 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed between Boggy Creek Drive and Nelms Drive. | Tuesday, Sep. 10 from 12 AM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road closed at William Cannon Drive. | Tuesday, Sep. 10 from 9 PM until 12 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Slaughter Lane and William Cannon Drive. The southbound William Cannon Drive exit ramp (#228) is also closed. | Tuesday, Sep. 10 through Thursday, Sep. 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between the William Cannon Drive exit ramp (#228) and William Cannon Drive. | Wednesday, Sep. 11 from 12 AM until 3 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between the William Cannon Drive entrance ramp and Stassney Lane. | Until Friday, Sep. 20

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between William Cannon Drive and Foremost Drive. | Until Friday, Sep. 20

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Northbound I-35 right two lanes closed nightly between US 290 East and St. Johns Avenue. | Sunday, Sep. 8 through Thursday, Sep. 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between St. Johns Avenue and Huntland Drive. | Monday, Sep. 9 through Friday, Sep. 13 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to two lanes nightly between St. Johns Avenue and Huntland Drive. | Tuesday, Sep. 10 through Thursday, Sep. 12 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • South to northbound I-35 U-turn closed at US 183. | Until further notice

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard) to RM 1431 (University Boulevard). | Through late 2020

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption. The start date is summer 2019 and is schedule to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramp at SH 71/US 290/Ben White (#230A) closed. | Monday, Sep. 9 through Tuesday, Sep. 10 from 9 PM until 5 AM

St. Johns Avenue Bridge Long-Term Closure

Crews have closed the St. Johns Avenue bridge over the I-35 mainlanes. All traffic on St. Johns Avenue will turn right onto the I-35 frontage roads and utilize the non-signalized U-turns at US 183 or US 290 East to access St. Johns Avenue on the other side of I-35.

Bicyclists and pedestrians will still be able to safely cross I-35 at St. Johns Avenue on a temporary walkway restricted to non-vehicular traffic. The reconstructed bridge is expected to reopen late summer 2019, weather permitting.
