Texas Most Wanted Fugitive, Gang Member Apprehended In Virginia

So far in 2017, DPS and other agencies have arrested 18 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including eight sex offenders and 10 gang members, and $48,000 in rewards have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.

AUSTIN – Douglas Alexander Herrera-Hernandez, 20, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, is now in custody after being captured Saturday near Arlington, Virginia. Herrera-Hernandez (aka “Terror”), who is affiliated with the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, was wanted on two counts of murder.

The arrest was not the result of tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, and no reward will be paid.

Working off investigative information, authorities with the Texas Anti-Gang Center in Houston, including Department of Public Safety (DPS) Special Agents, the FBI and the Houston Police Department, coordinated efforts with authorities in northern Virginia to locate and apprehend Herrera-Hernandez. Multiple federal and local agencies were involved in the arrest.

Herrera-Hernandez was being sought in connection with a June 2016 murder in Missouri City (Fort Bend County), and a Harris County murder on July 9, 2017.

The El Salvadorian national has been residing illegally in the U.S. For more information, see his captured bulletin at http://www.dps.texas.gov/Texas10MostWanted/capturedDetails.aspx?id=375.
