Texas State Hosts National Electrical, Electronics Engineers Workshop

Texas State University will host the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Workshop November 6.

The events start at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center, room 3-1.5, on campus. Registration is required and attendance is free.

The workshop will be officiated by experts who developed industry standers for WiFi and Ethernet communications hardware. These systems are a fundamental corner stone in modern internet communication. The workshop will include team-building exercises and lessons covering operating standards in the electrical engineering industry.

“IEEE Standards, and those of many other technical organizations and processes, allow a computer made by Dell to communicate over the network via Ethernet with a mainframe made by IBM and further to a computer made by Apple,” said Lawrence Larson of the Ingram School of Engineering.

Some of the industry experts who will be attending include Steven Carlson and Jennifer McClain, both experts in the field of internet communication hardware operations standards.

The IEEE is an organization dedicated to the better understanding of the economic and technical standards of electronics engineering.

12:15-3 p.m. Working Lunch and Group Consensus-Building Exercise

3-4 p.m. Group Presentations and Lessons Learned Discussion
