Two Bobcats Add To Growing List Of Preseason Accolades

London II was a 2018 Preseason All-SBC First Team selection by Athlon Sports and a Preseason All-SBC Second Team honoree by Lindy’s Sports.

NEW ORLEANS – Two Texas State football players were named to the 2018 Preseason All-Sunbelt Conference Teams, the league announced Friday morning.

Junior offensive lineman Aaron Brewer landed on the Preseason All-SBC Offensive Second Team, while junior linebacker Bryan London II was voted onto the Preseason All-SBC Defensive Second Team.

Brewer has earned numerous accolades across his two seasons donning the maroon and gold, including being named to the All-SBC Third Team a year ago. He also picked up second team laurels by Phil Steele Magazine.

Other honors include earning a spot in the 2018 Preseason All-SBC Second Team by both Athlon Sports and Lindy’s Sports. The versatile offensive lineman was also named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List in 2017.

Brewer started all 12 games for Texas State last season, earning starts in the first five games at center before moving to right guard for five games and left tackle for two games. He led the Bobcats with 68 knockdowns.

London II has also picked up a plethora of awards in his career, including being named a postseason honorable mention selection by the league coaches each of the last two years.

He was a 2018 Preseason All-SBC First Team selection by Athlon Sports and a Preseason All-SBC Second Team honoree by Lindy’s Sports. The team captain was named one of the nation’s top 25 sophomores by Bleacher Report last season.

He has started all 24 games of his career and has led the maroon and gold in tackles each of the past two years. He finished 10th in the league in 2017 with 91 tackles, while ranking eighth overall with two forced fumbles.

As a true freshman, London II ranked third in the nation with 11.8 tackles per game and 6.9 solo tackles per game.

Both Brewer and London II are set to represent Texas State at the annual Sun Belt Media Day July 22-23 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Sun Belt Fais-DoDo will be July 22 at Mardi Gras World.

The formal portion of Media Day will be July 23, with live coverage of the event running from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Matt Stewart and John Gregory will host the two-hour ESPN3 telecast from 1-3 p.m., which will feature Commissioner Karl Benson and all 10 football head coaches.

Texas State coach Everett Withers will field questions from the media along with juniors Aaron Brewer and Bryan London II from 1-1:25 p.m. live on YouTube inside the Bienville Lounge.

Withers is also slated for the ESPN3 broadcast at 1:53 p.m., while London II will be on YouTube in a separate breakout session at 10:15 a.m.

Additionally, long-time Bobcat announcers Bill Culhane and Brant Freeman will have a live radio show on-site from 10 am-noon on KTSW 89.9 FM.

The Bobcats will open their 2018 campaign on the road at Rutgers on Sept. 1. The home opener is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 8 against Texas Southern.
