TXST Softball’s Kimberlin Naivar Named College Sports Madness SBC Player of the Week

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junior outfielder Kimberlin Naivar has been named the College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after her performances against No. 18 Texas A&M and Appalachian State this past week.

 

Naivar, a native of Mont Belvieu, Texas, played a crucial role in the Bobcats success this past week after going .600 from the plate with six hits, four RBIs, and five drawn walks. Against the Aggies, Naivar led the Bobcats at the plate after going 2-for-2 with two of the three runs driven in. She also drew two walks against the Aggies to get on base in all four at bats.

 

Against the Mountaineers, Naivar recorded two more multi-hit games while reaching base in all three with three walks in game one. In game two, Naivar registered a double and scored two of the ‘Cats five runs. She finished the week with a .733 on base percentage in addition to a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in left field.

 

Naivar has found her stride at the plate as of late as she has helped propel the Bobcats to eight wins in the last nine conference games including back-to-back sweeps over South Alabama and Appalachian State. In the last three conference series, Naivar leads the team with a .462 batting average and 12 hits.

 

The Bobcats will conclude the regular season at home with a three game series against UT Arlington starting Friday evening. First pitch against the Mavericks is slated for 5 p.m. at the Bobcat Softball Stadium. Live stats, live audio, and live video will be available atwww.txstatebobcats.com.
