Gary CRC Recognizes Kyle Police Department And Officer; Corrections Cadet Recognized By San Marcos, Hays County
Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.

Gary Community Relations Council Recognizes Kyle Police Department And Officer Dago Pates
A Certificate of Appreciation was given to the Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett for his departments service to the community and their support of the mission of the Gary Job Corps Center. Also recognized was Gary Job Corps Alumni and Kyle Police Officer Dago Pates for his dedicated service to the community.
Gary Center Director Patty Lankford presented the awards and stated, “ We treasure our relationship with the City of Kyle, the support we receive, and also having students as interns with the city.”
Hays County Proclaims “Gary Corrections Cadet Michael Lewis Day”
Gary Job Corps Corrections Cadet, Michael Lewis, was honored for his “heroic response in providing lifesaving first aid” during the isolated stabbing incident that took place at Sights and Sounds in December 2018.
Cadet Lewis was a member of the Gary security team volunteering at Sights and Sounds when he encountered a male subject near the basketball courts who had been stabbed in the neck.
According to officials, the emergency first aid provided by Cadet Lewis was instrumental in the survival of the victim. The victim was transported to Seton Hays Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

The City of San Marcos proclaimed January 14, 2019 as Gary Corrections Cadet Michael Lewis Day due to Cadet Lewis’s actions.
