Volunteer Resource Center, FEMA MRIC, And Disaster Recovery Center

The San Marcos Volunteer Resource Center (VRC) at 206 North C.M. Allen Pkwy is scheduled to transition to a new location under the direction of the volunteer organization Serve San Marcos.
 
The VRC will re-open Friday, June 19 at 126 W. Hopkins. The center is scheduled to open to volunteers and flood survivors from across the region seven days a week from 9 a.m. to noon.  People who wish to volunteer to help with flood related needs, and flood survivors who need assistance with cleaning or repairing flood damaged homes, can also register on the organization’s website at www.servesanmarcos.org.  In addition to managing the VRC, Serve San Marcos will also begin managing the flood hotline at 512-753-2320.
 
2,809 volunteer have registered with the VRC in San Marcos since it opened to respond to the needs in the community.  There are still many needs in San Marcos, Hays County and the surrounding areas.  Those who wish to assist are encouraged to register with Serve San Marcos.
 
FEMA MRIC to Close & Disaster Recovery Center to Open
 
The FEMA Mobile Response Intake Center in San Marcos is scheduled to close on Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m.  FEMA will transition to a Disaster Recovery Center, which is scheduled to open on Saturday, June 20 at 9 a.m. at the San Marcos Crossroads Building in classrooms 17 and 18 at 501 S. LBJ Dr.
 
A Disaster Recovery Center is a readily accessible facility or mobile office where flood survivors may go for information about FEMA or other disaster assistance programs, or for questions related to a FEMA case. Some of the services may include:
  • Guidance regarding disaster recovery
  • Clarification of any written correspondence received
  • Housing assistance and rental resource information
  • Answers to questions, resolution to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance
  • Status of applications being processed by FEMA
