Moderate winds, cool temperatures, lingering cloud cover, and/or low incoming background levels should help keep air quality in the “Good” range in most spots statewide.

Light winds and limited vertical mixing may allow fine particulate matter to increase in urban portions of the state, particularly in parts of the San Antonio and Houston areas, where the daily PM2.5 AQI could possibly reach the lower end of the “Moderate” range and the upper end of the “Good” range (perhaps with an isolated low “Moderate” or two), respectively, with highest concentrations in the morning and evening.
Slightly elevated afternoon winds could generate and transport very light amounts of patchy blowing dust into portions of the South Plains and Permian Basin, though the duration and intensity of the possible dust is not expected to be enough to raise the daily PM10 AQI beyond the upper end of the “Good” range throughout most of the Lubbock and Midland-Odessa areas.
Otherwise and elsewhere in the state, moderate to strong winds and/or lower incoming background levels should help keep air quality in the “Good” range in most spots.
SATURDAY 10/19/2019
Light to moderate winds, warming temperatures, and sufficient afternoon sunshine could be enough for ozone to reach the lower to middle end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Midland-Odessa area and possibly the lower end of the “Moderate” range in parts of the Houston area, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening.
Light winds and limited vertical mixing may allow increased urban fine particulate matter to linger in parts of the Houston area, though duration and intensity of the elevated concentrations is not expected to be enough to raise the daily PM2.5 AQI beyond the upper end of the “Good” range in most spots overall.
Elsewhere in the state, moderate winds and/or lower incoming background levels should help keep air quality in the “Good” range in most spots.
