CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas State soccer team battled with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and held a 16-9 advantage in shots but were unable to find the back of the net as the Islanders took the match 1-0 at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track Stadium Friday night.

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-4-0 on the season while the Islanders are now 1-2-0 overall.

Davis had another opportunity late in the 16th minute when she was able to use her speed to create enough separation from a defender to get a shot off. Her attempt unfortunately flew into the outside of the left netting.

TAMUCC struck for the only goal of the match late in the 54th minute when Kaitlyn Joy sent in a cross that curled into the top of the net just inside the right post thanks to the swirling wind at the field.
