Phil Steele Publications Names Four Bobcats All-Sun Belt Conference Selections

SAN MARCOS, Texas- Four members of the Texas State football team were named to the Phil Steele Postseason All-Sun Belt Conference teams.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Bryan London was chosen a Second-Team linebacker and junior Brandon McDowell was named a Second-Team return specialist. In addition, junior college transfer Gabe Loyd was selected as a Third-Team linebacker and true freshman Aaron Brewer was tabbed a Third-Team offensive lineman.

London led the Sun Belt Conference and ranked third nationally in solo tackles with an average of 6.9 per game. He was second the Sun Belt and also ranked third nationally with 11.8 tackles per game.

Loyd was sixth among league leaders with 8.5 tackles per game and tied teammate Teron Fitzgerald for second place among Sun Belt leaders with two fumble recoveries. 

McDowell also led the Sun Belt Conference and ranked 18th nationally in punt returns with an average of 10.1 yards per return, while Brewer started nine games on the offensive line, including the last four contests as a center.
