Texas State Coach Ty Harrington’s Statement…

“This was a very frustrating and disappointing weekend for us. I felt like we were ready to play, even with having to go through finals this week. That’s part of being a student-athlete. I still felt our guys were focused and ready to play.

I know they’re disappointed, too. They felt like, after we came back in dramatic fashion yesterday, that we would be able to carry the momentum into today. Lo and behold it looked like it was going to happen again in the ninth inning.

These guys just keep battling. I’m so proud of their effort, but we just fell short today. Nobody up there feels worse than (Theodore Hoffman), hitting into the double play to end the game.

We were still in there competing, but we have to figure out ways to stop them. I’m disappointed for our players. We have a tremendous challenge ahead of us now with still having to face the two best teams in our league. Maybe we’ll rise up and play better.

The guys need to get cut free from baseball right now and go finish up with school. That’s the important thing. They need to go study and take care of business in the classroom. Then we can get that off our minds, move forward and try to play baseball.”
