Texas State Women’s Basketball Athlete Honored By College Sports Madness

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junior guard Brooke Holle was named Sun Belt Player of the Week by College Sports Madness on Monday evening.

“Brooke is the epitome of a student-athlete,” head coach Zenarae Antoine said. “She is stellar in the classroom and on the hardwood. It is wonderful to see her athletic accomplishments mirror her academic success. To be named College Sports Madness Sun Belt Player of the Week is an honor for Brooke, her family, our program and Texas State University. It is a great day to be a Bobcat!”

Holle was terrific in leading the Bobcats to a home sweep of the Arkansas schools, Texas State’s first home sweep in Sun Belt Conference play this season.

In the opening game of the weekend, Holle scored a team-best 21 points in TXST’s 68-54 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves. She converted 7-of-14 shot attempts and made 3-of-5 attempts from behind the 3-point line. The game marked Holle’s second 20-point outing of the season and first in conference play.

Two days later against the Little Rock Trojans, Holle turned in a clutch performance. She scored four of her 11 points in the final four minutes of the game to help propel the Bobcats over the top-ranked conference team.

Trailing LR by a score of 48-43 late in the fourth quarter, Holle buried a wing 3-pointer to beat the shot clock and bring the Cats with two at 48-46 at the 4:03 mark. She would go on to hit the go-ahead free throw with 1:45 to play to secure the victory.

During her junior campaign, Holle is scoring 11.1 points per outing, while adding 6.4 rebounds per game. Both figures rank second on the team and inside the top-20 of the conference.

Holle and the rest of the Bobcats will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at ULM.
